The Troy Community Band is a friendly, volunteer concert band that brings music to our community through free public performances. We rehearse weekly and perform throughout the summer at Tri-Township Park in Troy, St. Paul's Lutheran Early Childhood Center, and Firemen’s Park in Maryville, with a festive holiday concert each December.
Our members come from all walks of life — from middle school students to retirees — united by a shared love of music and community. We have about 50 musicians currently and we’re always excited to welcome new faces.
You’ll hear a mix of:
Traditional concert band favorites
Marches and patriotic tunes
Light classical and orchestral arrangements
Jazz, ragtime, and pops
Movie favorites set for band
Medleys and holiday music
Our concerts are relaxed, family-friendly, and always free to attend.
We welcome musicians of all ages and experience levels who can read music and play a concert band instrument. Whether you haven't played in decades or are still performing regularly, we'd love to have you.
Our repertoire is carefully chosen to be both accessible and rewarding — some pieces are fun and familiar, while others offer more of a musical challenge. We aim to strike a balance that keeps everyone engaged, whether you’re building confidence or seeking something more intricate.
Rehearsals:
Tuesdays at 7:30 PM
Triad High School, 703 Highway US-40, Troy, IL
We meet from April through mid September and mid October through early December, taking a winter break after our holiday concert.

The Troy Community Band was founded by John Malvin in 1985, whose vision built the foundation we continue today. Over the years, we’ve been honored to work with a number of talented conductors, both regular and guest, who have brought their unique energy and artistry to the group.
Throughout our history, various breakout ensembles have emerged from within the band, offering members additional opportunities to perform and explore different musical styles. One of these groups, The Saxophonics, remains active today, a small ensemble that performs at various community events.
We also enjoy showcasing talent from within the band through occasional solo features, and we’ve had the honor of performing with guest soloists, including musicians from the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the St. Louis Symphony Choir and Boston Symphony Orchestra.
